Responding to a deep and ancient calling, Fierro began working with stone shortly after escaping unscathed from a falling half-ton slab of granite. Initially balancing stones for pleasure on the beach, this quickly evolved into creating large balanced "cairns" and lanterns.

Maui’s pentagonal river stones offer a new sculptural medium for the Fierro stone palette. Created as composites from molds of actual East Maui river stones, click on the sketches below to help you envision lanterns or free-standing sculpture that can accent your garden, line your walkways or bring the magic of stone poolside.
